Shivraj Singh Chouhan Rajya Sabha Speech on MSP: After the Lok Sabha, there was a big commotion in the Rajya Sabha today over the issue of MSP (minimum support price or guaranteed price) of agricultural commodities. Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman asked the government when they will give MSP to farmers? Then Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan answered this question. Chauhan said, “Farmers are like gods to us. Serving farmers is like worship for us. Prime Minister Narendra Modi serves him like God.” Chauhan mentioned the committee formed for MSP at this time.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “We have formed a committee with three major objectives in mind regarding MSP. Our first objective is to provide MSP and make the system transparent. Another objective is to give more autonomy to the pricing of agricultural commodities. The third objective before this committee is to get suggestions for agricultural distribution system.”
“Don’t go round and round like a jilbi, answer in clear words”; Opponent aggressive
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “So far we have had 22 meetings regarding MSP. We will definitely consider the recommendations that come from the committee that we have appointed for this.” On this, SP MP Ramji Lal Suman said, “You should give a direct and clear answer on MSP instead of going round and round like Jilbi.” You have not said when MSP will be implemented, say it first.”
Ramji Lal said, “You only call the farmers God, but you and the farmers have no relation at all. You cannot get away with answering the MSP.” On this, the Agriculture Minister said, “The rate of MSP has been continuously increased. You are making baseless accusations against us. Our government has planned a six-pronged strategy for farmers.”
When will the guarantee be available?
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, we have implemented many measures to reduce the cost of farmers and increase production. Still, some people are calling us anti-farmers. In fact, no other leader cares about farmers as much as Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the report of the committee, we will give reasonable guarantee to the farmers. Proceedings regarding that have been initiated.
