Karnataka Renamed Ramanagara District: Two important halls of the Rashtrapati Bhavan were renamed on Thursday. The names of ‘Ashok Hall’ and ‘Durbar Hall’ were changed to ‘Republic Mandap’ and ‘Ashok Mandap’. A statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan stated that the name was changed so that the reflection of Indian culture could be seen in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Now another name change has been approved. This approval has been given by the Cabinet of Karnataka and the name of an entire district in Karnataka has been changed.
There is a district called Ramanagara on the Tamil Nadu border in the south of Karnataka. Bangalore City and Bangalore Rural are two districts adjacent to this district. Accordingly, the demand to change the name of Ramnagar district to Bangalore South has been gaining momentum for the past few days. Accordingly, the Government of Karnataka has approved this proposal in the Cabinet. So now ‘Ramnagar’ district will be known as ‘Bangalore South’.

Meanwhile, the decision to change the name has been taken as per the demand of the people, said Karnataka Government Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H. K. Patil told PTI. “We have decided to rename Ramnagar district as Bangalore South. This decision has been taken according to the demand of the citizens of that district”, he said. Also, “only the name of the district has been changed and everything else will be as usual”, Patil has also explained.
