However, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has given an explanation about this. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed that Meta has not informed the government about any plan to stop its WhatsApp service in India.

Also, while replying to a question about restrictions on social media platforms, Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the central government has issued directives in the interest of sovereignty or integrity of India, defense of India, security of the state, friendly relations with foreign states or public order.
