Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna announced his retirement after India’s men’s doubles first-round defeat on Sunday. The 44-year-old Bopanna played for India for 22 years. He made his debut for the country in 2002. In Sunday’s match, they were beaten 5-7, 6-2 by the French pair of Gael Monfils and Edward Roger Vaselin. With this, the Indian pair was out of the competition.
Rohan Bopanna was a Grand Slam men’s doubles finalist. Won French Open in mixed doubles in 2017 and Australian Open in men’s doubles in 2024. Before the Paris Olympics, Bopanna represented India at the 2023 Asian Games, where Rohan won the mixed doubles gold medal with Rituja Bhosle.

Bopanna , the world’s oldest player,
became the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World No. 1 men’s doubles player on January 29 this year. Bopanna was 43 years old at that time. At age 43, he is the oldest player to win the world No. 1 men’s doubles title. He currently has an ATP ranking of 4.
