Olympics 2024 Maharashtra Athletes Swapnil Kusale Eneters in Final : India has so far won two bronze medals in the Paris Olympics. Due to the excellent performance of the shooters, both these medals have fallen in the hands of India. First, Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal for India in the women’s 10m air pistol event. After that Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh combined to win bronze medal for India in 10m air pistol mixed doubles event. Now another shooter has boosted India’s medal hopes. This athlete from Maharashtra soil has qualified for the final round of 50m rifle competition.
Kolhapur’s Swapnil Kusale has qualified for the finals of the 50m rifle event. He finished seventh with 590 points in the preliminaries of the three-positioning 50m rifle event at the Olympics. Now Swapnil has got a chance to show his shooting skills in the official round of the competition and if he shows his best performance in this round then India can get third medal in his account. The entire country including Kolhapur and Maharashtra has high expectations from Swapnil.
Finals tomorrow
Swapnil will play in the final tomorrow (Thursday, August 1). The final round will start at 1 pm. In this competition, the shooter has to aim in three positions. Niling means aiming while sitting on the knees, aiming while lying on the stomach and aiming while standing. In the same tournament, another player from India had reached the preliminary round. But, he missed out on the finals by just one point. His name is Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and he stood 11th with 589 marks.
Olympics 2024: Aishwarya narrowly misses the ticket to the final round
Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar was ranked eighth after the first two rounds. But after the standing shoot, he had slipped from eighth to 11th. He fell a bit behind in the standing aiming rounds. The first eight shooters in this round got the ticket to the final round. Aishwarya missed this opportunity narrowly.
