Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad : It has come to light that more than three hundred people have died due to landslides in Wayanad in Kerala. Hundreds of people are still missing. Former Kerala MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited the disaster-hit area in Wayanad today. Communicated with the affected people and tried to reassure them. It was seen that Rahul Gandhi got emotional while talking to the media. He said, “The grief that I felt when my father died is the same grief that I am feeling today. I had lost my father. But some have lost entire families in Wayanad. Someone’s brother, father, mother has died.”
Rahul Gandhi was elected from Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in 2019 and 2024. In the year 2024, he had contested from both Rae Bareli and Wayanad constituencies . Therefore, the Congress had announced a few months ago that Priyanka Gandhi will contest elections here after resigning from Wayanad. So Priyanka Gandhi was seen along with Rahul Gandhi in today’s tour.
Rahul Gandhi visited the landslide affected area in Wayanad today. Communicated with the affected people and comforted them. He then left after talking to the media for only a minute. Rahul Gandhi’s father Rajiv Gandhi was killed in a bomb blast in May 1991. While recalling this incident, I still feel the same kind of sadness, he said.
“We stand with the people of Wayanad. I am proud that today the whole country has come forward to help Wayanad”, said Rahul Gandhi. He was also asked some political questions on this occasion. Talking about it, he said, today is not the time to talk about politics. People here need help. I don’t want to do politics right now. My entire focus is on helping the people of Wayanad.
On this occasion, Priyanka Gandhi also interacted with the people. After some time, there will be a by-election for the Lok Sabha in Wayanad and they will stand for this election. Speaking to the media this time, she said, I have the same feelings as my brother. I met a boy who spent six hours trying to save his family. But he could not save the family. We try to do whatever we can to help the people of Wayanad. A similar situation has prevailed in Himachal Pradesh. Help is needed there too.
Priyanka Gandhi further said, we have power in Karnataka. We are trying to send help from there.
