What happened on August 9th?
On August 9th, the half-naked body of a female doctor was found in the seminar hall of R.G. Kar Hospital. Between 2:30 and 5:30 in the morning, Sanjay Roy allegedly raped the doctor and then murdered her. Agitations began following the discovery of this horrific crime and continue to this day. It has been reported that Roy was heavily intoxicated. Prior to committing the crime, he visited a brothel in Sonagachi. In light of the incident, the victim’s mother has made serious allegations against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
What has the victim’s mother said?
The victim’s mother stated, “West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is lying. She told us that we will be given compensation and that a memorial would be erected in my daughter’s memory. I told her that my daughter deserves justice. Mamata Banerjee then said, ‘Come to the office and take the compensation.'”
The victim’s mother also claimed that Mamata Banerjee tried to suppress the protests following the murder of her daughter.
Mamata Banerjee tried to suppress the protests
The victim’s mother further stated, “Mamata Banerjee tried to suppress the protests that began after my daughter’s murder. We were shown my daughter’s half-naked body. Now Mamata Banerjee is urging people to stop these agitations and is preparing for Durga Puja. Her behavior is inhumane. I am a mother who has lost her daughter. Let people come for the festival of Durga Puja, but my daughter deserves justice.”
Durga Puja is also celebrated in my home
“Durga Puja is also celebrated in my home. My daughter and I both took part in the celebrations. But this one incident has turned our lives dark. How can I tell people that I will be celebrating this year? God forbid, what would our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have done if she were going through what I am going through?” the victim’s mother asked.
