Kamala Harris vs. Trump: Who Won the Presidential Debate?
There is much discussion about the ‘Presidential Debate’ (debate between presidential candidates) before the presidential election in America. The United States has a bipartisan presidential democracy with three rounds of debates between candidates before each election. Political analysts, journalists, and ordinary American citizens eagerly await these debates, which are believed to offer a glimpse of the election’s outcome. The majority of American voters often decide which leader and party to support based on these debates.
The first round of presidential debates took place in June. At that time, Democratic Party leader and current President Joe Biden faced Republican Party candidate and former President Donald Trump. Trump prevailed over Biden in the first round. The second round of presidential debates occurred yesterday (Tuesday, September 10), featuring Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris against Republican Party candidate Donald Trump. In this round, Kamala Harris emerged victorious over Trump.
A second-round debate was organized by ABC News. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump engaged in a 90-minute verbal exchange on various issues, including the US economy, abortion rights, the Israel-Gaza conflict, the Russia-Ukraine war, and immigration. Following the debate, CNN and SSRS conducted a poll. According to the poll, more than half of the viewers believed Kamala Harris outperformed Trump. Specifically, 63 percent of those who watched the debate said Harris won, while 37 percent favored Trump.
After the Second Round of Debate
Before the debate, a CNN poll indicated a 50-50 split in favor between Harris and Trump. After the first round of debates, 67 percent preferred Trump, while 33 percent favored Biden. However, after the second round, this picture changed. Post-debate, 63 percent of respondents said Kamala Harris performed better than Trump, while only 37 percent preferred Trump.
Incumbent President Joe Biden participated in the first round of debates held in June. However, on July 21, Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential election. The Democratic Party subsequently announced incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate.
