Viraj Ghelani Comments on Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ Movie: Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Jawan was released in theaters in September 2023 and grossed over ₹1000 crores worldwide. Actor Viraj Ghelani, who had a small role in the film directed by Atlee, revealed that working on the project was his worst experience so far. Viraj mentioned that he shot for nearly 10 days under the sun, but much of his work was not included in the final cut of the movie.
In an appearance on The Having Said That Show, Viraj was asked about his cameo in Jawan. He responded, “Don’t talk about it,” and expressed frustration, saying, “Why did I do this film?” Despite receiving compliments from his followers for his appearance in the movie, Viraj shared that the overall experience was disappointing. “People who have seen the film for me are very nice. They meet me and say, ‘We saw you in the movie.’ But working on this film was my worst experience so far,” he said.
Experience on the Sets of ‘Jawan’
When asked why it was a bad experience, Viraj explained that films like Jawan have such immense star power that they don’t take content creators seriously. “The thing is… they don’t take you seriously because they have Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan,” said Viraj. He also spoke about the work culture on the sets, describing it as impersonal. “They would say, ‘Stand here, do this,'” Viraj noted, adding that he felt this approach was dismissive.
Viraj played the role of a policeman in the movie. He shared that during close-up shots, he was given a prop gun, but for wide shots, he wasn’t provided with one. “There was a scene where I had a gun in a close-up because I was playing a policeman. But for the wide shot, they didn’t give me a gun. I asked, ‘Where’s my gun?’ They said, ‘You’ll get the gun, just stand here.’ I stood there, but I never got the gun,” Viraj recounted.
“I Shot for 10 Days, But…”
Viraj also mentioned that none of his close friends have seen Jawan. “I appeared and disappeared in the movie. I was just a blurry figure in the background. I had dialogues during the shoot, and I worked for 10 days in the summer heat of May on Madh Island. But when I watched the film, none of the footage I worked on was used. They only included a bit of what we shot on the first day, in the first half-hour of the movie,” Viraj said.
