Dhanbad: Under the “One Nation One Number” initiative, vehicle registration has started in Dhanbad. With the launch of this series, six people in Dhanbad have already registered their vehicles, reflecting this growing trend.
The purpose of the BH (Bharat) series number plate is to allow vehicles to be driven across India without worrying about state borders. With the IT-based vehicle registration system, BH series vehicles do not need to be re-registered when taken to another state.
Employees face significant issues when shifting or transferring to other states, as they must re-register their vehicles. This hassle will now be eliminated. According to the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, a person cannot keep their vehicle in another state outside of the one where it is registered for more than 12 months. They must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and pay taxes in the new state, which is a lengthy process.
The benefit of the BH series is that vehicle owners will no longer need to re-register their vehicles when moving from one state to another.
Understanding the BH Number Plate:
- Year: The first two digits on the BH number plate represent the year the vehicle was registered. For example, if your vehicle was registered in 2024, the first two digits would be ’24’.
- BH: After the year, ‘BH’ is written, which stands for Bharat and indicates that the vehicle has a Bharat series number.
- Numbers: Following ‘BH’, there will be four numbers ranging between 0000 and 9999.
- Letters: At the end, there will be one or two letters between AA and ZZ. These represent the first letter of the state.
The BH series is optional, meaning vehicle owners can choose whether or not they want a Bharat series registration. It is not mandatory when purchasing a new vehicle; you can opt for the previous system if preferred.
Two-Wheelers Will Have to Wait: Currently, the BH series number is only available for four-wheeled vehicles. Two-wheeler owners will have to wait for a notice to be issued for them.
