Kareena Kapoor Khan has completed 25 years in Hindi cinema this year. She is known for her diverse hairstyles in movies and her strong acting skills. Some of Kareena’s roles over the past 25 years have been quite eye-catching, one of which was her performance in Omkara, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. In this film, Kareena played the role of ‘Dolly Mishra.’ Recently, at an event, she expressed pride in her performance in this movie and organized a special screening of Omkara for several renowned directors to showcase her role.
Kareena wanted veteran Bollywood directors to watch and appreciate her performance in Omkara. However, the outcome was quite the opposite of her expectations. Instead of receiving praise, it was Saif Ali Khan’s role as ‘Langda Tyagi’ that captured everyone’s attention, and he received the accolades instead of Kareena.
Speaking at the event, Kareena shared, “I thought my role was so good that I should invite all the directors to see my work. So, I called several directors, including Mani Ratnam. I organized this screening because I felt that I had done a great job in this film. The show was held at Film City, and all the actors and directors involved in the movie were present, including Vishal Bhardwaj, Konkona Sensharma, Vivek Oberoi, and Saif Ali Khan. I was so happy, thinking everyone would appreciate me as ‘Dolly Mishra.’”
But then everyone praised Saif instead. Kareena recounted, “After the interval, everyone was talking about Saif Ali Khan’s role. During the interval, people came out and said, ‘We loved your work and everyone else’s, but Saif Ali Khan has done a great job.’ Even after the film ended, everyone was still talking only about Saif. I thought, ‘What’s going on? I invited everyone to admire me!’ But all the praise was directed at Saif,” she said, smiling as she shared the anecdote. A few years after Omkara, Saif and Kareena began dating and later got married.
Saif Wants to Watch Kareena’s Films With Kareena completing 25 years in Bollywood, a film festival has been organized in her honor, showcasing her famous movies. When asked about Saif’s thoughts on this film festival, Kareena mentioned, “Saif was very happy to hear about the concept of this film festival.” She added that Saif wants to rewatch her films Omkara and Ashoka during the festival.
