State Bureau, Ranchi: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) cornered the central government on Tuesday over the state government’s claim of ₹1.36 lakh crore in pending coal royalty.
General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya stated, “We are not begging for charity; we are demanding our rightful share. We know how to fight and claim what’s ours. The formation of Jharkhand is proof of that. If you want to keep Delhi’s lights on, don’t force us to bind Jharkhand’s boundaries. Our money is not for capitalists.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the state for the second time in 15 days, and he is expected to make some announcements related to tribals. Bhattacharya questioned why the Prime Minister and the BJP only remember tribals during election time, accusing them of using positions like the presidency for electoral gains.
He emphasized that the Prime Minister must make an announcement about Jharkhand’s pending dues during his speech in Hazaribagh. He also remarked that the election outcomes in Haryana and Maharashtra have already been decided, predicting an even worse situation for the BJP in Jharkhand, where he believes they won’t even reach double digits.
Accusations Against BJP’s Stage Presence
JMM’s General Secretary pointed out that it’s possible Raja Peter, a former minister and accused in the murder of a martyr and Jharkhand movement activist, might be present on the NDA stage in Hazaribagh. He criticized the idea of such individuals sharing the stage with the Prime Minister, saying the entire state is witnessing infiltration, and those on stage with the PM are the real infiltrators.
