State Bureau, Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has completed the process of finalizing candidates’ names for the state assembly elections.
State election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan, co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma, and organizational in-charge Laxmikant Bajpai have informed the central leadership about the panel of three names decided in a meeting with the state election committee.
The party’s parliamentary board has also made decisions on these names. The list of candidates will be released in two phases.
In the first phase, the names of candidates for 25 to 30 seats will be announced immediately after the model code of conduct is implemented. This will include candidates for all reserved seats, as well as the seats of state president Babulal Marandi and Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri. The party has decided to field Babulal Marandi from the general seat of Rajdhanwar and Amar Kumar Bauri from the reserved seat of Chandankiyari.
Full list of candidates to be released within a week Once the first list is announced, the BJP will announce the rest of the candidates within a week. This will give the party ample time for campaigning and provide sufficient preparation time for the candidates.
The party has not made major changes in deciding candidates’ names, retaining all prominent leaders. However, new names have been selected in place of some leaders who lost in previous elections.
At the state level, arrangements have been made to ensure there is no dissatisfaction after ticket distribution.
