In recent months, Jammu and Kashmir have seen a surge in terrorist attacks, with frequent encounters between Indian Army soldiers and terrorists. To address the rising incidents, security forces have intensified large-scale search operations targeting terrorists. In a recent encounter, two terrorists were killed by security forces in Halkan Gali, located in the Anantnag district’s Shangus-Larnu area of South Kashmir. As the security forces approached a suspicious area based on intelligence reports, the terrorists opened fire, prompting the forces to retaliate, leading to the terrorists’ deaths.
This operation is part of a broader effort, as encounters with terrorists are ongoing in several regions across Jammu and Kashmir. A recent clash took place in Srinagar’s Khanyar area, where security forces had received information about two terrorists hiding in a house. During the operation, a house was also set ablaze as the gunfight continued.
In addition, a terrorist attack occurred in Ganderbal just days earlier, where terrorists targeted migrant workers involved in a tunnel project, killing seven people, including a doctor, and injuring others. Following this tragic incident, which also included the abduction and killing of an army soldier, the central government, with Home Minister Amit Shah at the forefront, has vowed to take stringent actions to address the threat posed by terrorism in the region.
