Jharkhand Election 2024: Congress Releases Manifesto, MS Dhoni to Contest
State Bureau, Ranchi – The first phase of voting for the Jharkhand Assembly elections will take place on November 13. Meanwhile, a day before the election, the Congress Party released its manifesto, titled “Bharose Ka Ghoshanapatra” (The Manifesto of Trust). The party has promised to provide 250 units of free electricity to consumers in the state.
Congress also pledged to conduct a caste-based census in the state. Focusing on the youth, the party promised that all government appointments would be completed within a year.
Additionally, the Congress Party promised 28% reservation for ST (Scheduled Tribes), 12% for SC (Scheduled Castes), and 27% for OBC (Other Backward Classes). They also promised the implementation of the 1932 Khatiyan-based local policy and the Sarna code.
Other Promises in the Manifesto:
- The castes under Scheduled Castes in undivided Bihar, which were later included in the general category, will be re-included under the Scheduled Caste category.
- The scope of the “Abua Awas” scheme will be expanded to provide permanent housing to all poor families in the state.
- The Sarna tribals, who run schools in remote areas of the state, will receive permission for establishing schools with a set of rules and financial assistance for building construction.
- A social audit of the Congress Party’s promises will be conducted every six months.
Congress Released Manifesto During Silent Period, Election Commission Investigating
The Congress Party released its manifesto during the silent period (the 48 hours leading up to the end of voting) for the first phase of the Assembly elections. Regarding whether the manifesto could be released during the silent period, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, K. Ravi Kumar, admitted that no party is allowed to release a manifesto during this time.
He said that no party can release a manifesto either in the party office or elsewhere. Complaints about Congress releasing the manifesto on Tuesday have been received, and the matter is being investigated. Appropriate action will be taken based on the guidelines of the Election Commission.
When asked about the filling of forms for a scheme for advocates by the state’s Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan, he mentioned that he was not aware of the matter yet and would take appropriate action after gathering the details.
