State Bureau, Ranchi: Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the alliance government is set to return to power in Jharkhand. He stated that the government has fulfilled its promises and is now presenting seven new guarantees to the public, which will also be implemented.
Kharge emphasized that the state government launched the Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana to empower women economically. However, the BJP filed a case against this scheme. He pointed out that similar schemes are operational in BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, but no one has challenged them in court. Filing a case against Jharkhand’s Maiyan Yojana is an insult to women and the poor. Kharge was addressing a press conference at a hotel in Ranchi on Saturday.
PM Modi Spreading Lies, Defaming Congress
Kharge criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of misleading people with false statements. He stated that PM Modi has failed to fulfill his promises on employment, inflation, and farmers’ welfare. Instead, he keeps blaming the Gandhi family and tarnishing the image of the Congress party. Despite this, Kharge mentioned, Congress continues to respect the office of the Prime Minister.
He questioned why the PM is personally campaigning in Jharkhand’s assembly elections, a rare act for someone in his position. Kharge said the PM should focus on issues like unemployment, poverty, and farmers’ prosperity instead of making false claims and blaming Congress. He added that it would have been better if the PM had given an account of his 11 years in power.
Reservation Increase and Pending Approval
Kharge highlighted that the alliance government in Jharkhand passed a proposal in the assembly to increase reservations for OBCs, Dalits, and STs. However, the proposal is still pending with the Governor.
Criticism of PM Modi’s Statements
Kharge mocked PM Modi’s statement, “Ek rahenge toh safe rahenge” (We will be safe if we are united), questioning whether the Himalayas or Kashmir are safe. He alleged that such statements are made for polarization during elections but noted that the public is aware of the truth.
Responding to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement, “Batenge toh katenge” (If divided, we will fall), Kharge called it disrespectful to the people.
Border Security is the Central Government’s Responsibility
On the issue of infiltration in Jharkhand, Kharge remarked that infiltrators must enter through borders and not fall from the sky. He pointed out that border security is the responsibility of the central government, falling under the purview of the Home and Defense Ministries.
He criticized the PM for not taking adequate measures to secure the country’s borders and prevent infiltration, stating that the blame is being unfairly shifted to the state government. Kharge also addressed the delay in landing clearance for his aircraft, despite his status as a cabinet minister, and deemed it inappropriate.
