Jamtara: With only a few hours left for the second phase of elections in Jharkhand, the election campaign will come to a halt at 5 PM on Monday. After that, candidates will only be allowed to conduct door-to-door campaigning. Before that, star campaigners from all parties have been actively involved in electioneering. On Sunday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren addressed a rally in support of Congress candidate Irfan Ansari at the Southbahal Football Ground in Jamtara Assembly constituency. During his speech, he fiercely criticized the BJP government.
BJP is Dividing People in the Name of Religion
CM Hemant Soren said that for the past five years, the BJP has been kept away from power. Now, in an attempt to regain power, they are using all kinds of tactics. They are spreading poison among the people and dividing society in the name of caste and religion.
We Have Built a Strong Alliance
“The BJP follows the ‘divide and rule’ policy, and therefore, we need to drive them out not only from Jamtara but from Jharkhand. To counter this, we have created a strong alliance. It is impossible to break this alliance, and it is your responsibility to strengthen it. You must ensure that Irfan Ansari, the Congress candidate, wins from here and reaches Ranchi,” he added.
BJP Did Nothing for Women’s Empowerment
The Chief Minister further stated that BJP had ruled the state for almost 20 years. He asked, “What did they do for women’s empowerment? What did they do to stop the atrocities on tribals?” When the alliance government began showing results, the BJP tried to conspire to bring down the government. They even sent me to jail, but despite that, the alliance government remained intact.
Pensions for All and Other Welfare Initiatives
“Earlier, only a few people used to get pensions. Now, all people above 50 years are receiving pensions. The alliance government has worked to honor and support all women. Widow pensions were not available before, but now all widows are getting pensions. We have ended the middleman system, and the government and officials are solving problems door-to-door,” Soren said.
We Restored the Old Pension Scheme
“We have given the elderly the support they need, while the central government tried to end it. Today, Jharkhand has restored the old pension scheme. We have relieved the poor by waiving their electricity bills and writing off farmers’ loans of up to two lakhs,” he added.
Future Plans with Alliance Government
“If our alliance government comes to power, in the next five years, we will deposit one lakh rupees into the bank accounts of every family. Starting December, the Maiyan Samman Yojana will provide 2,500 rupees. For this, strengthen the alliance,” Soren concluded.
The event was also attended by Irfan Ansari, JMM leader Prof. Kailash Sahu, Dinesh Yadav, Ashok Mandal, and other block presidents.
