Manipur Violence: Incidents of violence have been continuously coming to light in Manipur since last year. Many people have also lost their lives in these violent incidents. However, the incidents of violence do not seem to be decreasing. Recently, violence has erupted once again in Manipur, and the situation has worsened. On November 15, the discovery of the dead bodies of a woman and two children came to light. After that, incidents of arson occurred again in Manipur.
Not only this, but on November 16, an angry mob attempted to attack the houses of some MLAs and ministers, vandalizing cars. This has again created tension in Manipur. All these incidents have been taken seriously by the central government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah held an urgent meeting in the wake of the violence in Manipur. Discussing the current situation in the meeting, the Centre decided to send an additional 50 contingents of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to Manipur, comprising more than 5,000 personnel, considering the security situation in the state.
It is also reported that Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the paramilitary forces to focus on peace and order in Manipur after meeting with security officials. The news in this regard has been reported by the Indian Express, citing sources. Additionally, instructions have been given to increase the number of security forces and, if necessary, deploy more security guards to restore peace and order in Manipur as soon as possible, the report said.
NPP Withdraws Support from Manipur Govt
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a major setback in Manipur. The alliance between the National People’s Party (NPP) and the BJP has ended in Manipur. The NPP has withdrawn its support from the Biren Singh government. The National People’s Party, led by Conrad Sangma, made this decision out of concern for the current law and order situation in the state. In this regard, party chief Conrad Sangma has written a letter to BJP president JP Nadda expressing his concern about the law and order situation in Manipur. On Sunday, Conrad Sangma also announced that he is dissatisfied with the way the government is handling the current situation and is withdrawing support from the government due to the loss of innocent lives.
