State Bureau, Ranchi: On November 28, the new government is set to be formed in Jharkhand. However, a decision has not yet been made on who will be appointed as ministers from the National Janata Dal (RJD), an ally of Hemant Soren’s government. Three RJD legislators are in the race for the ministerial positions out of the four-member party.
These three legislators include Suresh Paswan, who won the Deoghar seat by a large margin, Hussainabad MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav, and Godda MLA Sanjay Prasad Yadav. The fourth legislator, Naresh Prasad Singh from Vishrampur, has been excluded from the race. The decision regarding who will be appointed as ministers will be made by the party’s national president, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Suresh Paswan, who was elected as the leader of the legislative party in the state RJD meeting held a day earlier, is considered to be a close associate of Lalu Prasad. He had served as a legislator from Deoghar from 2004 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2014. During his term from 2009 to 2014, he was also a cabinet minister in the government led by Hemant Soren. In the 2014 and 2019 elections, Paswan was defeated by BJP candidate Narayan Das from Deoghar. However, in 2024, the people once again placed their trust in him, and he emerged victorious.
On the other hand, Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav, who won the Hussainabad seat, is the president of the Jharkhand State RJD. He had previously served as a legislator from Hussainabad in the 2009 assembly elections.
Sanjay Prasad Yadav, who emerged victorious from the Godda seat, is the state RJD’s general secretary. He had served as the MLA from Godda in the united Bihar state in 2000 under the RJD banner. He was also elected as an MLA in the 2009 elections, marking his third term.
