IND vs AUS Gabba Test: Time Changes for Last 4 Days Due to Rain Disruption
The third Test match between India and Australia is set to begin on December 14 at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, with the first day’s play being called off due to rain. Team India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first, given the cloudy conditions. However, play could not resume due to heavy rain that started after 13.2 overs in the first session.
After the first day was lost, the umpires announced changes to the starting times for the last four days of the match.
Rain was predicted before the match, and while the toss and start were on time, the weather impacted the first day’s play. The umpires had to stop play twice during the first session. The first interruption was brief, but the second led to the early end of the day’s play, well before the scheduled time.
A total of 98 overs will now be bowled over the final four days, with the match starting half an hour earlier than originally planned. The BCCI tweeted that play for the next four days will begin at 5:20 AM IST, instead of the previously scheduled 5:50 AM IST.
How Many Runs Were Scored on the First Day?
On the first day of the Brisbane Test, Australia scored 28 runs without losing a wicket in 13.2 overs. Usman Khawaja was unbeaten on 19, and Nathan McSweeney was on 4. As expected, the bowlers didn’t get much swing on the Gabba pitch.
Changes in the Playing XI
Two major changes have been made in Team India’s playing XI for this match. Akash Deep and Ravindra Jadeja have replaced Harshit Rana and Ravichandran Ashwin. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood has returned to the playing XI in place of Scott Boland.
