Diljit Dosanjh Meets PM Narendra Modi: Farmers Express Disappointment
World-famous singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the first day of the new year. He shared photos and videos of his interaction with the Prime Minister on social media.
Meanwhile, farmers protesting at the Shambhu border expressed anger over the meeting, stating, “If he really cared about the farmers, he would have come here first and supported the farmers’ protest.” The protestors expressed their disappointment, claiming that Diljit’s actions contradict the support he previously extended to their movement.
A farmer leader, currently protesting at the Shambhu border, criticized Diljit’s meeting with the Prime Minister, saying, “If Diljit truly cared about the farmers, he would have come here to join us in solidarity with Dallewalji at the Shambhu border, listened to our problems, and stood by his earlier statements. His meeting with PM Modi raises doubts about his intentions.”
Prominent farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for 38 days, demanding the legalization of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) through a new law. Thousands of farmers, along with hundreds of tractor-trolleys, have gathered at the hunger strike site in support.
Diljit’s Role in the Farmers’ Movement
Diljit Dosanjh actively supported the farmers’ protest in 2020 against the central government’s agricultural laws. At that time, he urged the government to address the farmers’ demands and called for accurate media representation of the protests. Speaking at the protest, he said, “My salute to all you farmers who have created this new history. This history will be told to future generations.”
