Sonu Sood, widely praised for his charitable work during the COVID-19 pandemic, has continued his efforts to support the needy even after the crisis. In a recent interview, he shared his thoughts on the Income Tax Department’s raid on his house in 2021 over alleged tax evasion of ₹20 crore.
On the Income Tax Raid
Speaking on the YouTube channel Jist, Sonu Sood reflected on the raid conducted at his house in September 2021. He said, “The officials were doing their duty, and I was aware of such challenges. There are no locks on the cupboards or doors of my house—anyone can easily enter. I had no problem with the investigation because even during that time, people were lining up outside my house for help, and I continued helping them.”
Facing Challenges with Positivity
Sonu further added, “I expected such obstacles. We cannot expect life to be smooth all the time—that’s not possible. When choosing any path in life, it is necessary to be prepared for such difficulties.”
In a 2023 appearance on the show Aap Ki Adalat, Sonu reiterated that no charges were proven during the 2021 investigation. Addressing the funds received by his company that year, he explained that 80% of the funds came from brand endorsements. He had instructed brands to direct these earnings to his foundation, ensuring they were used for charitable purposes.
