Raghubar Das Rejoins BJP, Says ‘We Will Come Back Soon’
Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das joined the BJP on Friday and confidently declared, “We will come back soon,” indicating that the party would make a strong comeback. He encouraged the workers to focus on serving the organization and the people, putting aside the disappointment from the 2024 assembly election defeat.
After being appointed as the Governor of Odisha, Raghubar Das resigned from the BJP membership on October 23, 2023. Now, following his release from the Governor’s position, he has rejoined the BJP. After signing up online, he was welcomed at a program outside the state office.
‘Together, We Will Make BJP Stronger’
BJP State President Babulal Marandi welcomed Raghubar Das, stating, “We have worked together before, and now we will work together again to strengthen BJP. BJP will return to power in Jharkhand and form the government once again.” The program was coordinated by State General Secretary Aditya Sahu. Other leaders present at the event included Defence Minister Sanjay Seth, MP Kalicharan Singh, Manish Jayaswal, MLA Prakash Ram, Alok Chaurasia, and Neera Yadav.
Raghubar Das Gives the Government Six Months to Fulfill Promises
During his welcome speech, Raghubar Das acknowledged that while the JMM-led alliance won the assembly election, BJP also received a strong mandate as the opposition. He mentioned that with the Mahakumbh scheduled in 2025, the new year would provide BJP workers with a chance for spiritual and political rejuvenation. He gave the newly-formed government a grace period of five to six months to fulfill its promises. He stated that if the government fails to deliver on its promises, BJP workers would launch protests from the assembly to the streets.
He emphasized that BJP does not work merely to gain power, but its true goal is to serve the people. Paying tribute to Biru Birsa Munda, Raghubar Das stated that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Atal Bihari Vajpayee are the sources of inspiration for BJP workers.
‘I Have No Ambition, I Am Here to Serve’
Raghubar Das stated that he had no personal ambitions and his sole goal was to serve as a worker and servant of the party. He encouraged workers to dedicate at least two hours a day to the party. He also recited a poem to express his role:
“The moment I awaited for months,
Today, your presence makes it special,
Finishing my responsibility’s journey,
Raghubar Das, the servant of Jharkhand, has come home.”
He concluded by reaffirming that BJP’s work is not for the acquisition of power, but for serving the people, while drawing inspiration from leaders like Deendayal Upadhyay and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
