RIMS to Be Completely Revamped: Chief Minister Hemant Soren Holds Key Meeting
The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in the capital is set for a complete revamp. Chief Minister Hemant Soren held an important meeting on Monday with top officials to discuss the redevelopment plans.
The plan includes consolidating all hostels in one location. The residential complex will be shifted to the North Block. Additionally, the indoor area with 1,600 beds will undergo renovation. To prevent waterlogging, the basement area will be sealed. The Chief Minister sought detailed information from officials regarding the proposed redevelopment and expansion plans for RIMS.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive Master Redevelopment Plan for RIMS, ensuring it is well-equipped and organized for the future. He emphasized that RIMS should gain recognition across the country. Modernizing healthcare systems is a government priority. Dr. Rajkumar, Director of RIMS, and Dr. Hirendra Birua, Medical Superintendent, were also present during the meeting.
In addition to health department discussions, Chief Minister Soren held meetings with the departments of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes Welfare, as well as the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Secretary of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare Ajay Kumar Singh, Chief Forest Conservator Satyajit Singh, and other key officials.
Scheduled Tribe Hostels to Be Completed on Time
Chief Minister Hemant Soren also inquired about the tender process for the proposed Scheduled Tribe welfare hostels. Officials confirmed that two hostels each will be built in Ranchi and Daltonganj. The tender process has been completed, and construction is set to begin within the next month.
In Ranchi, a hostel for 525 Scheduled Tribe girls will be constructed in the Women’s College (Science Block) campus, along with a hostel for 525 students in the Tribal Hostel campus. In Daltonganj, two hostels will be built on By-pass Road Redma, with a capacity for 525 students in each. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the construction is completed on time.
Overcoming Development Barriers in Wildlife Sanctuaries
The Chief Minister also directed officials from the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department to address development barriers in rural areas within wildlife sanctuaries. He noted that basic facilities such as electricity, water, and roads are not being adequately developed in villages within forest areas.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of overcoming obstacles in the reconstruction of the road linking Madhuban to Parasnath (Sikar Hilltop), a key route that is currently facing delays due to complicated forest and environmental regulations.
Providing essential services to rural areas is a priority for the state government.
RIMS-2 Project Site Inspection by Health Minister
Work on the RIMS-2 project will also begin soon. The Health Minister, Dr. Irfan Ansari, will inspect the proposed construction site in the Kanke area on Tuesday, accompanied by senior officials. Due to the growing patient load at RIMS, the state government plans to build a second hospital with similar facilities.
