ICC T20I Team of the Year 2024: Rohit Sharma Named Captain
The ICC has begun announcing the 2024 awards, including the best teams in all three formats of cricket for both men and women. As part of this, the ICC T20I Team of the Year 2024 has been revealed, with India’s Rohit Sharma named as captain. This honor comes after India’s historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, their first T20 World Cup win in 17 years.
India’s dominance in the ICC T20I Team of the Year is evident, with four players making the cut: Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh. All four were integral to India’s World Cup triumph, with standout performances throughout the tournament. Notably, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh delivered stellar performances in the final match.
The ICC T20I Team of the Year features players from a wide range of nations, showcasing the global talent in T20 cricket. Besides India, the team includes representatives from Australia, England, Pakistan, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, with each country contributing one player.
West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran has been selected as the wicketkeeper, while Australia’s Travis Head, England’s Phil Salt, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga round out the squad.
