Champions Trophy 2025: Suresh Raina’s Statement on Rohit Sharma’s Form
Former Team India batsman and current cricket commentator Suresh Raina has claimed that if Rohit Sharma regains his form before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, we will see a different kind of captain in the tournament. He also stated that Rohit’s approach will be different in matches played in Pakistan and the UAE.
Currently, Rohit Sharma has been struggling with his form across formats. The Hitman, who retired from T20 internationals, has been underperforming in Test and ODI cricket as well.
What Did Suresh Raina Say?
Speaking on Geostar, Suresh Raina said:
“If Rohit Sharma loses his form before the Champions Trophy, we will see a different kind of captain. Apart from that, his approach will also change.”
Rohit has failed to cross the 20-run mark in his last 10 international innings, with his batting average hovering around 10 in the last 20 innings—a major concern for both him and Team India.
After struggling in the three-match Test series against New Zealand at home and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit played in the Ranji Trophy. While he failed in the first innings, he managed to score some quick runs in the second innings. However, his return to white-ball cricket has not been promising.
In the first match of the three-match ODI series against England in Nagpur, Rohit was dismissed for just 2 runs off 7 balls. Attempting to flick a delivery from Shakib Mahmood, the ball caught the edge of his bat and flew into the air, leading to an easy catch. He returned to the pavilion visibly disappointed.
Now, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma’s performance in the remaining two matches of the series, which will be crucial in determining his form ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
