All About Abhinav Chandrachud
For the past few days, the name Ranveer Allahabadia has been a topic of discussion across the country due to his objectionable statements on India’s Got Talent. Now, due to this controversy, another name has come into the spotlight—Abhinav Chandrachud. He is representing Ranveer Allahabadia in the Supreme Court and is the son of former Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud.
Abhinav Chandrachud’s family is well-known in India’s judicial circles. His father was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court in May 2016 before later becoming the Chief Justice of India. Despite his father’s high position in the judiciary, Abhinav never argued a case in the Supreme Court during his father’s tenure.
In his farewell speech last year, former Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud shared an anecdote about his two sons, Abhinav and Chintan. He said, “I once asked both of them to continue practicing law in the Supreme Court as well, so that I would have the opportunity to meet them more often. However, due to professional reasons, both declined the offer.”
Former Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud also recalled in an interview with NDTV that while studying at Harvard between 1982 and 1985, he avoided appearing in any Indian court because his father, Y.V. Chandrachud, was the Chief Justice of India at that time.
