MS Dhoni Reveals the Secret to Living a Stress-Free Life
Ahead of IPL 2025, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has once again grabbed headlines. In just a few days, fans will see the former Chennai Super Kings captain back on the field. Before the tournament kicks off, Dhoni has shared his secret to living a stress-free life.
A famous song from the late actor Rajesh Khanna’s film ‘Amar Prem’—“Kuch to log kahenge, log ka kaam hai kehna”—seems to have played a significant role in Dhoni’s life. His approach to life reflects this philosophy, as he believes in forgiving, moving on, and not losing sleep over what others think.
What Did MS Dhoni Say?
The 43-year-old former wicketkeeper-batsman, who led India to two World Cup victories during his illustrious international career, is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. Recently, at an event, Dhoni was asked to give advice on life, and he took a philosophical approach.
During the launch of his app, ‘Dhoni’, he said:
“I believe in keeping life simple. Be honest with yourself and thank people for what they do for you. Don’t always think, ‘this is my birthright,’ and don’t keep asking for more.”
Sanju Samson Joins Dhoni at the Event
Injured Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was also present at the event. Dhoni elaborated on his philosophy, saying:
“I know the app is called ‘A Little More,’ but the essence of it is about being grateful, saying thank you, respecting elders, and showing love to the younger ones.”
He also emphasized the power of forgiveness, a quality he believes is lacking in many people today.
‘Laughter Solves Half the Problem’
Dhoni further explained:
“I always believe that half of our problems are solved with a smile. Even when things are tough, even when it’s difficult, we must find the strength to forgive. This is something many of us struggle with.”
Throughout his career, Dhoni has never responded to personal attacks, whether from former teammates or critics—some of whom have even accused him of ending their careers.
‘Forgive and Move On’
The former Indian captain advised:
“We have become too vindictive as people. Someone says something, and we immediately want to retaliate. Just forgive, move on, and be happy in life. When we were growing up, our goal was always to be happy.”
He added that not stressing over things beyond one’s control is key to handling the pressures of daily life.
‘You Can’t Be Careless, But You Can Be Carefree’
MS Dhoni concluded by saying:
“We all feel pressure. We always think others have a better life, but how we manage stress and prepare ourselves matters the most. I keep things simple. As children, we were taught, ‘You can’t be careless,’ but in today’s world, it’s important to be a little carefree. You can’t worry about everything happening around you or try to control things that are out of your hands.”
