Aamir Khan and Nana Patekar to Collaborate on a Film: Insights from Their Candid Chat
Aamir Khan, often called Mr. Perfectionist, and Nana Patekar, renowned for his versatile and realistic acting, are set to collaborate on an upcoming film. While the project has been announced, details such as the film’s name and storyline are yet to be revealed. However, their recent chat session on Zee Music’s Candid Conversation show has stirred interest, offering insights into their perspectives on acting, their journey, and their take on award ceremonies.
Aamir and Nana Patekar’s Journey to Cinema
During the candid chat, Nana Patekar shared how his journey into films began. “I started with plays, but it was Smita Patil who encouraged me to step into films. She once said to me, ‘The audience for plays is in the thousands, but films reach millions.’ Her insistence brought me into the film industry,” Nana Patekar recalled.
Similarly, Aamir Khan spoke about his initial involvement in plays during his college days. “I worked in plays but later realized that the medium of films resonated more with me. I am a bit undisciplined when I don’t have work, but when I take on a film, I always follow the rules. Now, I’ve decided to focus on one film a year and spend more time with my mother, wife, and children,” he shared.
Why Aamir Khan Doesn’t Attend Award Ceremonies
Aamir Khan has long been absent from award ceremonies, a topic often discussed in the industry. During the interview, Aamir explained his reasons:
“I used to attend award ceremonies initially but stopped later. Films are a creative field, not a competition like a tennis match where rules clearly determine winners. How can we compare roles in films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Parinda?
I also feel we Indians are emotional when it comes to awards. Often, awards are given to individuals for their name rather than their work. Awards should be about recognizing excellence in work, not popularity. Additionally, I value my time and have lost interest in attending such events. While I respect those who attend and receive awards, I prefer not to participate.”
Nana Patekar on Awards
Adding humor to the discussion, Nana Patekar shared his perspective on award ceremonies:
“My issue is different. Out of the seven or eight jury members deciding the awards, I’ve argued with four or five of them! So, I’m not someone they would even consider,” he said with a smile.
