Hazaribagh/Chhatarpur (Palamu). Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that as long as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power, minorities will not receive reservation. The Congress party talks about reservation, but the Constitution does not provide for reservation based on religion. We can never give reservation to any specific religion. As long as Narendra Modi’s government is in power, we will not allow anyone to touch the reservation for the backward classes.
He made these remarks on Saturday while addressing an election rally in support of BJP candidates in Hazaribagh and Chhatarpur. He sought support for BJP candidates Pradeep Prasad from Hazaribagh, Pushpa Devi from Chhatarpur, and Nirmal Mahto from Mandu representing the AJSU party.
“Demand for 10% Reservation for Muslims by Ulemas”
The Home Minister mentioned that a group of ulemas in Maharashtra submitted a memorandum to the Congress, demanding a 10% reservation for Muslims. The state president of Congress responded that they would assist with this. Shah said, “I have come to ask the people of Jharkhand—if Muslims are given a 10% reservation, then who will lose out? It will be the backward classes, Dalits, and Adivasis. We will not let this happen.”
“Congress is an Anti-OBC Party”
Amit Shah claimed that Congress is an anti-OBC (Other Backward Class) party. He stated that whenever Congress came to power, it did injustice to the backward classes. The Kaka Kalelkar Commission was formed in 1950, but Congress governments dismissed its report. The Mandal Commission was established to provide reservations for backward classes, but it was opposed by Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Modi has provided 27% reservation for backward classes in all central jobs and exams.
“Protection of Food, Land, and Daughters”
The Union Home Minister promised that if the BJP forms the government in Jharkhand, they will pass a law to end the practice of Bangladeshi infiltrators marrying tribal girls to usurp their land. He emphasized that the BJP will ensure the safety of food, land, and daughters. He mentioned that 3.5 billion rupees were seized from a Congress MP’s house and that those who try to usurp tribal land will no longer succeed. If the government is formed, the practice of land donation deeds will end, and infiltrators will not be allowed to take jobs unlawfully.
Targeting Hemant Soren on Corruption
Shah targeted Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on corruption issues, accusing him of a 1 billion rupee MNREGA scam, a 600 million rupee land scam, a 1 billion rupee mining scam, and a liquor scam worth billions. He said that the Modi government has provided housing, water, toilets, and 5 kg of food grains to 60 million poor people.
“I Am Giving You My Word…”
Amit Shah raised issues related to the Hazaribagh airport and Ram Navami. He accused the state government of hindering the airport’s construction. He said, “I am giving you my word: if our government is formed, the airport’s foundation stone will be laid within three months. During Ram Navami, there will be flowers, not sticks, and I will be there myself.”
“I Have Brought the Figures…”
He addressed Hemant Soren’s demand for an account of funds and shared data: “From 2004 to 2014, Jharkhand received only 840 billion rupees from the UPA government, but the Modi government provided 3.9 trillion rupees in ten years.” Shah emphasized that this election is not just about replacing one MLA or Chief Minister with another, but about the future of Jharkhand. He expressed confidence that Jharkhand could become the country’s most prosperous state, accusing Hemant Soren’s government of misusing the funds sent by the Modi government and urging people to remove such a government.
