Arvind Kejriwal on Delhi Election Result 2025
The results of the Delhi Assembly elections have been announced today (February 8). According to the figures released till noon, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 47 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in 22 seats. The final picture of the Delhi results will become clear in the next few hours. However, based on the current data, it is evident that the BJP government will be formed in Delhi. This outcome has dealt a major blow to the Aam Aadmi Party.
Notably, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have also faced defeat. Arvind Kejriwal lost to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Parvesh Verma from the New Delhi constituency. Kejriwal and Sisodia are considered senior leaders of AAP, making their defeat a significant setback for the party and its supporters.
Following his defeat and AAP’s underwhelming performance, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the results. He stated, “We humbly accept the mandate given by the people of Delhi. I congratulate the Bharatiya Janata Party on its victory. I hope the BJP fulfills all the promises for which the people have voted for them. We have done a lot of work in the fields of health, education, and infrastructure. Now, we will not just play the role of the opposition party, but we will continue to serve the people by being among them. We will stand with the people in their joys and struggles because we did not enter politics just for power.”
Manish Sisodia Also Defeated
Aam Aadmi Party’s Manish Sisodia contested from the Jangpura constituency but was also defeated. Tarvinder Singh Marwah won from this seat. Previously, Sisodia had won two elections from the Patparganj constituency. However, this time, he faced defeat.
Marwah, the BJP candidate who defeated him, joined the party in 2022. Before that, he was a member of the Congress and was considered one of the close associates of former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Marwah is also recognized as an influential Sikh leader within the BJP.
