Bajrang Punia Threatened to Quit Congress After Receiving Death Threats
India’s star wrestler and recent Congress member, Bajrang Punia, has received death threats. The wrestler disclosed that the threat came from a foreign number. The message warned, “Leave Congress, Bajrang, or you and your family will suffer. This is our last message. We will show you who we are before the elections. You can complain wherever you want, but this is your first and final warning.” Following Bajrang’s complaint, the police have filed an FIR and started an investigation.
Police Investigation Underway
Police spokesperson Ravindra Singh confirmed that Bajrang Punia lodged the complaint at Bahlgarh police station in Sonepat. The threatening message was sent from an international number. The police have taken the matter seriously and are working to identify the person responsible.
Bajrang Punia Didn’t Receive an Election Ticket
Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat recently joined the Congress party. While Bajrang was not given a ticket for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, Vinesh Phogat has been nominated to contest from the Julana constituency. When asked about not being given a ticket, Bajrang responded, “Running for office is not the only way to be involved in politics. From the start, it was decided that only one of us would contest, and I am supporting Vinesh in her campaign.”
Bajrang Punia as Congress Kisan Morcha Working President
After joining Congress, Bajrang was appointed as the Working President of the Congress Kisan Morcha. Prior to joining the party, he resigned from his job with the Indian Railways. Upon his induction, Bajrang criticized the ruling BJP, stating, “We will strengthen Congress and the country. The BJP did not support us during the wrestlers’ struggle, and now they are criticizing us for joining Congress.”
