Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has dismissed reports of a rebellion within the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), stating that Congress leaders are in the habit of switching parties. He assured that AAP leaders remain loyal to the party.
AAP national coordinator Arvind Kejriwal had called a meeting of the party’s Punjab MLAs in Delhi on Wednesday. This meeting holds significance in light of the recent Delhi assembly election results. Following AAP’s defeat in Delhi, speculations arose about a possible threat to the stability of the AAP government in Punjab.
Congress leader in Punjab, Pratap Singh Bajwa, claimed that 30 AAP MLAs were in contact with the Congress. In response, Mann challenged Bajwa to first count the number of Congress MLAs in Delhi, highlighting that Congress has failed to win a single seat in Delhi for the third consecutive time. Mann further asserted that Bajwa’s statement holds no truth.
Mann also defended his government’s record, claiming that the Punjab administration has undertaken several welfare initiatives. He emphasized that the law and order situation in Punjab is better than in many other states. “If the situation were not good, why would big industries come to the state?” Mann questioned while speaking to reporters.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Delhi MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa took a jab at Kejriwal over the Punjab MLAs’ meeting, alleging that Kejriwal dreams of becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab.
