Sahibganj: The age of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has reportedly increased by seven years in just five years. In his 2019 nomination papers, his age was listed as 42, but this year it is listed as 49. BJP candidate Gamaliel Hembram from Barhait has filed a complaint regarding this with Election Officer Gautam Bhagat.
The BJP candidate also questioned the valuation of Hemant Soren’s land. Gamaliel claims that in 2019, Hemant declared the purchase price of his 43,560 square feet land in Jaridih, Bokaro, as Rs. 10 lakhs, while this year, it is listed as only Rs. 4.45 lakhs.
“Hemant Soren During the 2019 Elections…”
The BJP candidate states that in his 2019 nomination form, Hemant Soren had mentioned case number GR 1208/2014, but it is missing in this year’s nomination form. In the 2019 form, Hemant mentioned a Maruti Ciaz car (registration number JH 01BW 7580) in his wife Kalpana Soren’s name, which is still registered under her name, yet it has not been mentioned this time.
Demand for Cancellation of Hemant Soren’s Nomination
Gamaliel alleges that during the 2019 Assembly elections, Hemant Soren mentioned only two land parcels in his nomination form. Both plots were purchased between 2006 and 2008, whereas this time, he has mentioned a total of 23 plots, all registered between 2006 and 2008. Gamaliel questions why these lands were not mentioned in 2019, and has called for Hemant Soren’s nomination to be canceled.
Meanwhile, Election Officer Gautam Bhagat stated that during scrutiny, in the presence of observers, all candidates and their representatives were invited to raise objections. The BJP candidate raised no objection at that time but submitted complaints against JMM candidate Hemant Soren later. Since the observers were present, the BJP candidate’s objections were dismissed. The district JMM president Shahjahan declined to comment on the matter.
