Ranchi: The political climate in Jharkhand is heating up. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren has severed ties with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). He has also resigned from the cabinet. Champai Soren is set to join the BJP on Friday. Meanwhile, the question of who will replace him in Hemant Soren’s cabinet has also been answered.
In fact, Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren will be the 12th minister in Hemant’s cabinet. He will be sworn in on Friday. The Cabinet Monitoring and Coordination Department has confirmed this news. According to sources, Ramdas Soren will be given all the departments that were previously held by Champai Soren.
Champai Soren sent his resignation directly to the Governor
After leaving the party, Champai Soren sent his resignation from the cabinet directly to the Governor. In his three-line resignation, he mentioned relinquishing the ministerial position. He also wrote that he will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve as a cabinet colleague.
It should be noted that along with his resignation, Champai also sent an emotional letter to JMM President Shibu Soren. In his letter, Champai resigned from all positions within the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, stating that he was compelled to leave the party due to dissatisfaction with its current policies and working methods.
He further wrote, “It is with great sadness that I must say that the party we had envisioned under your guidance, and for which we scoured the forests, mountains, and villages, has now strayed from its path.”
JMM was like a family to me – Champai
Champai wrote, “JMM was like a family to me, and I never imagined that I would have to leave it. But due to recent events, I am forced to make this difficult decision with great pain.”
The former Chief Minister, in an emotional tone, mentioned that due to your current health condition, you are away from active politics, and apart from you, there is no forum within the party where we can express our pain. This is why I am resigning from the primary membership of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and all positions.
Under your guidance, I had the opportunity to learn a lot during and after the Jharkhand movement. You will always remain my mentor. Therefore, I humbly request that you kindly accept my resignation.
