Ranchi: Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has released its manifesto for the Jharkhand Assembly elections. The LJP has advocated for the inclusion of the Sarna religious code and has promised to set up food processing plants in 10 districts. Additionally, the manifesto states that women will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹2,000. Plans to connect Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, and Bokaro with domestic flights were also mentioned.
Chirag Paswan’s party is part of the NDA in Jharkhand. LJP (Ram Vilas) has been allocated only one seat and has fielded its candidate Janardan Paswan from Chatra. Janardan Paswan has previously won twice, in 1995 on a Janata Dal ticket and in 2009 on an RJD ticket. The Chatra Assembly seat is reserved for SC candidates and has a significant Paswan community presence. Currently, the seat is held by RJD’s Satyanand Bhogta. Since the Bhogta caste has received ST status, Satyanand Bhogta cannot contest from this seat.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections are scheduled for November 13 and 20, 2024, with results to be announced on November 23. Political activity is intensifying as the election approaches.
