Ranchi: Today, World Tribal Day is being celebrated, and on this occasion, an Adivasi Festival was organized at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Park. Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the event along with his wife, Kalpana Soren.
The Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Gangwar, was also present at the ceremony. While addressing the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to walking hand in hand with the tribal community and assisting them. He pointed out that there are only a few tribal individuals in high-ranking positions like judges, IAS, and IPS officers. To advance the community, both the government and the people of this community need to play their roles. He assured that the government is striving to fulfill the aspirations of the tribal society.
Jharkhand:
The Land of Gold – CM Soren The Chief Minister remarked that Jharkhand is often referred to as the “Land of Gold” due to its vast mineral wealth. However, the tribals and indigenous people of the state do not meet the standards of development. He stated that his government is working to set new benchmarks and accelerate development to uplift these communities. Initiatives like model schools, universal pensions, honor grants for every woman, and the Chief Minister’s Mayyan Samman Yojana are examples of such efforts, though listing them all on this festive occasion wouldn’t be appropriate.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar’s Address:
Addressing the Jharkhand Tribal Festival, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar emphasized the need to implement the PESA law (Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas Act) in Jharkhand soon. He requested the Chief Minister to pay attention to this and take necessary action promptly. The Governor also stressed the importance of ensuring timely disbursement of scholarships to students.
The Governor highlighted that the tribal community is still lagging in education, healthcare, and employment. He emphasized the need to ensure that they benefit from the state government’s welfare schemes and become aware of their rights. The protection of the tribal community must be a priority.
While praising the tribal community for being free of practices like dowry, the Governor expressed concern over the persistence of witchcraft practices, which need to be eradicated through awareness. Efforts should be made to ensure that more tribal youth can pursue higher education and create an environment of equality among all communities. The Governor concluded by acknowledging that the tribal community is a symbol of the nation’s identity and plays a crucial role in uplifting other communities.
