State Bureau, Ranchi: In light of the upcoming assembly elections, Congress’s top leadership made a significant change on Friday. Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, a former minister from the Bihar government, has been appointed as the state president, replacing Rajesh Thakur. Keshav Mahato Kamlesh was previously the state executive president of Congress.
Additionally, Hemant Soren’s government minister Ramshwar Oraon has been declared the leader of the Congress legislative party in the assembly. This position had been vacant since Alamgir Alam’s resignation. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge announced both appointments and praised Rajesh Thakur’s tenure.
Keshav Mahato Kamlesh is a former MLA from Silli. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to attract Kurmi votes in the assembly elections. It is noteworthy that both Sudesh Mahato, president of the AJSP party, and the recently prominent Jairam Mahato have influence in the Kurmi region. In this context, Congress has appointed Keshav Mahato Kamlesh as the state president to attract Kurmi votes.
