Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge Demands Amit Shah’s Resignation:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, is currently facing a heated political atmosphere over a statement he made about Babasaheb Ambedkar. Following this, opposition parties have taken an aggressive stance. Meanwhile, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has demanded that Amit Shah resign immediately. Along with this, Kharge has also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who posted a line on the social media platform X in defense of Amit Shah.
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, while speaking to the media, said, “Ambedkar never spoke about heaven and hell, ideologies that he did not believe in. Their (BJP) Home Minister makes statements based on that. Modi made six tweets to defend him. What was the need? If someone spoke wrongly against Babasaheb, he should have been removed from his cabinet, but there is a strong friendship between the two. Both support each other’s mistakes. If one commits a mistake or makes a wrong statement, Modi supports it.”
Kharge further said, “I want to ask Modi about the person and the constitution you are discussing. You are talking to everyone by considering this book as sacred. In fact, Modi has never respected it. It was burned in Ramlila Maidan. We also rejected the tricolor flag created for the country; they said that this constitution is not ours, it is not in line with Manu, so we do not accept it. They burned the photos of Nehru, Gandhi, Ambedkar, and also hated the tricolor flag. This is what is in their minds. That is why they made this statement about Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.”
Demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister and senior leader Amit Shah, Kharge said, “If a person had faith in him (Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar), pride in him, that person would not have made such a statement. Therefore, our demand is that Amit Shah should resign, and if Modi has even the slightest faith in Babasaheb Ambedkar, he (Amit Shah) should be dismissed before 12 midnight.”
“Our demand is that a person who becomes a minister by taking an oath on the Constitution and insults the same Constitution has no right to remain in the cabinet. He should be dismissed, and only then will the people of the country remain peaceful. Otherwise, slogans will be raised everywhere in the name of Babasaheb. People are even ready to give their lives for him,” Mallikarjun Kharge also said.
What Did Amit Shah Say?
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Amit Shah made a statement about Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, which has been strongly objected to by the opposition. “It has become fashionable these days. Nowadays, it has become fashionable to take Ambedkar’s name repeatedly. Some people chant Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. If one takes the name of God so many times, one will get a place in heaven,” Amit Shah had said.
