London: Novak Djokovic, the most successful player in the tennis world, reached the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon tournament with an easy victory again. However, this time he was upset with the Wimbledon audience. Djokovic beat Holger Rune 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in just over two hours on Center Court. However, he was unhappy with the support that rival Rune received during the fight. Speaking on court after the match, Djokovic made his displeasure public.
His fans were chanting ‘ruuuuuun’ to encourage Rune. However, Djokovic felt that it sounded somewhat like a ‘boo’ sound made when making a comment against someone.
An on-court interviewer told Djokovic after the match that all the spectators were cheering for Rooney. Then Djokovic got angry. “I don’t agree with this. They may be encouraging Rune, but that’s just an excuse to ‘boo’ me. I have been playing professional tennis for over 20 years. I know all the tricks of the fans. But you can’t touch me,” said Djokovic. “Even after this, I respect the audience. They come here with tickets to appreciate both the game and the players,” said Djokovic.
