Alibaug: The fishing season in Konkan will start from August 1. But the gale force winds and rains have not subsided in the coastal areas. Therefore, the fishing season of August 1 is likely to be postponed.
For the last two months, fishing was off on the Konkan coast. So the fishermen kept their boats close to the coast. The fishing ban will end on July 31. Therefore, the fishermen are going to start the new season of fishing. It has almost started. Repair and painting of boats and maintenance and repair of fishing nets are currently in progress. Mobilization of diesel, ice and grain is currently underway. Works like weaving nets, oiling boats, painting boards are going on at the shore.
But the coastal areas are experiencing gusty winds. The rain continues. Therefore, the fishermen are in doubt whether to launch the boats in the sea or not. So many fishermen have not launched their boats yet. Therefore, there is a possibility of avoiding the 1st August deadline.
Every year, fishing boats are released into the sea after praying for abundance of fish in the sea and avoiding loss, as well as taking a muhurt and performing puja. Some people launch their boats in the water after Narli Poornima. Therefore, it is likely that only a few boats will go fishing on the 1st this year.
