Big Changes in the New ICC Test Rankings: Joe Root Slips, Harry Brook Rises to the Top
There has been a major upheaval in the new ICC Test rankings. Until now, Joe Root was at the top of the batsmen’s rankings, but after a long time, Root has slipped to second position. This time, Travis Head, Kamindu Mendis, and Temba Bavuma have seen significant improvements. Many big changes are clearly visible in the top 10 list, and Indian batsmen have been impacted.
England’s Harry Brook has become the top-ranked batsman in the new ICC Test rankings. Brook has overtaken Joe Root to claim the top spot. Previously ranked second, his rating has now reached 898 points. Joe Root has moved to second place, just one point behind Brook, with a rating of 897. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson remains in third place with a rating of 812, while India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal stays in fourth place with a rating of 811, showing no change in his ranking.
Meanwhile, Travis Head has benefitted from his brilliant century in the second Test against India. He has jumped six places at once, reaching the fifth position with a rating of 781. Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis has also gained one place, now ranked sixth with a rating of 759. South Africa’s Test captain, Temba Bavuma, has gained three places, now occupying the seventh position with a rating of 753.
On the other hand, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has lost three places, now ranked eighth with a rating of 729. India’s Rishabh Pant has also been affected, slipping to the ninth position with a rating of 724. Pant has dropped three places. Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel, with a rating of 724, is in a joint ninth position with Pant.
India’s Virat Kohli has slipped six places to 20th position, while Shubman Gill is in 17th place with a rating of 672. Rohit Sharma is ranked 31st with a rating of 595.
