State Bureau, Ranchi: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has appointed Hemant Soren as the nominated Chief Minister and invited him to form the government. Hemant will take the oath of office on November 28 at a ceremony to be held at Morhabadi Ground.
Earlier on Sunday, at 4 PM, Hemant met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and resigned from his position as Chief Minister. He also submitted a letter of support from 56 MLAs, staking his claim to form the new government.
The Governor directed Hemant to continue in office under an interim arrangement and invited him to form the government as the nominated Chief Minister. On November 28, along with the Chief Minister, one minister each from Congress and RJD may also take the oath, though this has not been officially confirmed yet. However, the formula for the Hemant cabinet has been finalized: six ministers from JMM, four from Congress, and one from RJD. If CPI(ML) lays a claim, they might also be allocated one ministerial position.
On the same day, Hemant began the process of forming the new government by holding a meeting with the newly elected MLAs of the I.N.D.I.A coalition to discuss government formation. During this meeting, the formula for ministerial distribution in the new government was decided. Subsequently, Hemant went to Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor.
At Raj Bhavan, prominent leaders such as Tariq Anwar (Congress in-charge for Jharkhand elections), Ghulam Ahmed Mir (Congress state in-charge), Jayprakash Narayan Yadav (RJD state in-charge), Suresh Paswan (newly elected RJD MLA), Arup Chatterjee (newly elected CPI(ML) MLA), and Vinod Pandey (JMM General Secretary), among others, were present.
