World’s Most Powerful Passports 2025: Check List
India has slipped five places in the ranking of the world’s most powerful passports. According to the Henley Passport Index 2025, India’s ranking has gone from 85th to 80th. The Henley Passport Index ranks the passports of 199 countries based on how many destinations they can visit without a visa. According to the recently announced ranking, travelers with Indian passports can visit 57 countries visa-free. Along with India, Equatorial Guinea and Niger also share this position.
Who is in first place?
Singapore continues to dominate the list as the most powerful passport. Singapore has secured the first position in the 2025 rankings. According to the Henley Passport Index, a Singaporean passport holder can travel to 195 countries without a visa. It is followed by Japan (193 countries), Finland (192 countries), France (192 countries), Germany (192 countries), Italy (192 countries), South Korea (192 countries), Spain (192 countries), Austria (192 countries), and Denmark (191 countries).
The UAE has made the most significant leap in the index over the last decade. Compared to 2015, UAE passport holders can now enter 72 more countries without a visa. As of 2025, UAE passport holders can enter 185 countries visa-free. The UAE has jumped 32 places in the index to reach 10th place. Meanwhile, the US has seen a decline. Between 2015 and 2025, the US has fallen from second place to ninth place.
Who is at the bottom?
In 2025, Pakistan and Yemen are ranked 103rd on the Henley Passport Index, with passport holders from these two countries able to enter only 33 countries without a visa. This is followed by Iraq (31 countries), Syria (27 countries), and Afghanistan (26 countries).
