Follow These Steps to Port Your SIM into BSNL:
Private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea increased the price of all mobile recharge plans by up to 25% for both prepaid and postpaid users by the end of June. As a result, many customers are considering switching their SIMs to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which hasn’t implemented any price hikes yet. If you’re also planning to port your SIM connection to BSNL, this guide is for you. You can easily switch your SIM in just three simple steps.
Step 1: Obtain a Unique Porting Code (UPC):
First, open your messaging app and type PORT followed by your 10-digit mobile number. Send this message to 1900. You will receive a Unique Porting Code (UPC) on your mobile as a reply. If you are a prepaid mobile subscriber in Jammu and Kashmir, you need to call 1900 instead of sending a text message. The unique porting code is valid for 15 days or until your number is ported to another operator. However, for subscribers in Jammu, Kashmir, Assam, and select parts of the North East, the code is valid for up to 30 days. Your mobile number will be activated within 15 to 30 days if your balance is cleared with your current operator before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Visit a BSNL Customer Care Center:
After receiving the unique porting code on your mobile, visit a BSNL customer service center (store) to port your number. To complete the process at the store, you will need to provide the following necessary documents and personal information:
- Fill out the Customer Application Form (CAF).
- Provide one passport-size photo and address proof.
- Submit the unique porting code received from your current operator.
- Pay the fee to port the SIM (though BSNL has stated that they currently do not charge for porting).
Step 3: Complete the Porting Process:
After submitting the required documents and forms, you will be given a new BSNL SIM card. You will also receive a message informing you when your old SIM will be deactivated and when the new BSNL SIM will be activated. Simply replace your old SIM with the new BSNL SIM at the appropriate time to complete the process.
By following these three simple steps, you can successfully port your SIM to BSNL.
