According to a report by ‘The Indian Express’, Vidhu Vinod Chopra has stated on the stage of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ that things are not that easy for both of us.
Talking about actor Nana Patekar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra says, “I had seen Nana acting in the play ‘Purush’. I was a simple, decent Kashmiri youth until I met Nana. But, I met Nana and everything changed. When I was directing a scene during Nanana Parinda, he used to abuse me. After watching it, I started wondering how I would direct them. After that I also started abusing them in return.” He further says, “There was such a scene in the film; Which I was explaining to Nana. I explained to Nana the scene where his wife dies and Nana’s eyes are filled with tears. We had been shooting all day and it was evening. Nana said, I am tired and going home. I told them, go but pay for the extra shift. After that Nana started abusing me. I also abused and tore his kurta in the fight. Our fight continued until our cameraman shouted that the shot was ready. I came out in front of the camera.
After watching the movie, you will notice that Nana is wearing a banyan in that scene. Because- his kurta was just torn and the tears in his eyes are real; which was watered in his eyes because of our quarrel. After that we hugged each other. He told me that he was stressed by the scene. Vidhu Vinod Chopra recalled that the film ‘Parinda’ was made in such a way. Nana Patekar and Vidhu Vinod Chopra never worked together after ‘Parinda’. Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff also play important roles in this film . The film has won many awards.
