Monsoon brings with it many problems. When it starts raining, you have to take special care of the house first, otherwise the house will get damaged due to rain. During the rainy season, sometimes water seeps into the walls of the house, dampness appears in the walls. This not only spoils the color of the walls, but also with time, the water-cracked walls begin to fall off. Thus the whole house looks bad, unhygienic.
In order to avoid dampness in the walls of the house during monsoons, waterproofing should be done on time. Waterproofing should be done under the floor, ceiling, bathroom, kitchen, balcony and exterior walls. Along with this, if the water pipes are inside the walls, they should also be done on the walls. But let’s learn how to do this waterproofing…
There are two types of waterproofing
In integral waterproofing the waterproofing compound is mixed with cement and used for plastering and crack filling. Whereas in barrier waterproofing, waterproofing compound is used to paint directly on the walls. In such case you can do one or more coating according to your requirement.
Use a waterproofing injection
There are other methods of waterproofing such as injection grouting used to fill cracks in ceilings or walls. In this, a waterproof chemical is injected under high pressure into the cracks in the walls. The pressure causes the chemical to penetrate deep inside and completely fill the crack. In such a situation, the problem of dampness of the walls can be solved.
Waterproofing can be done even after the construction of the house
If you are thinking that waterproofing should be done while building the house, then there is absolutely no need for it. Waterproofing can be done afterwards to prevent damp, in this process the old paint is removed from the wall and a waterproofing compound is applied. Now it can either be mixed with cement or done like paint.
Cracks in walls can be filled with paint
Often people use cement to fill cracks in walls, but this does not solve the problem of dampness. Therefore, waterproofing compound should be used to fill the cracks on the walls. You can also apply waterproof paint on exterior walls to prevent dampness. This paint is like plastic, with the help of which cracks can be easily filled.
Buy waterproof paint this way
If you are buying waterproof paint, keep a few things in mind such as that the dispersion of the paint should be between 200 and 600 percent. The capacity to fill cracks in the wall should be at least 2 mm. So after the paint dries, the thickness of the paint on the wall should be between 180 microns to 240 microns.
