IND vs ENG: England Announces Playing XI for 1st ODI

In a significant development, Joe Root returns to England’s ODI team after 452 days. Root, who has been in exceptional form in 2024, last played an ODI during the 2023 World Cup in India.

England’s squad for the first ODI includes Ben Duckett and Phil Salt as openers, with Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone in the middle order. Joe Root will play at number three. After losing the T20I series, England faces another tough challenge in ODIs. Notably, England has not won an ODI series in India for 41 years—their last series win in India was in 1984. In their previous ODI series in India (2021), they lost 2-1.
