IND vs PAK: Team India Star Rishabh Pant Falls Ill Before High-Voltage Clash
A high-stakes encounter between India and Pakistan is set to take place on February 23 in the Champions Trophy 2025. Both teams are rigorously preparing for the much-anticipated match. However, just a day before the showdown, Team India has been dealt a setback, as star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has fallen ill.
According to reports, Pant is suffering from a viral fever in Dubai, causing concern for the Indian team, as they will have only one available wicketkeeper on match day.
Shubman Gill Confirms Pant’s Illness
Speaking at a press conference after India’s practice session on February 22, vice-captain Shubman Gill confirmed that Pant suddenly fell ill and was unable to participate in training. As a precautionary measure, he has been advised to rest.
Will Pant Play Against Pakistan?
All eyes are now on Pant’s recovery before the crucial match on Sunday. However, his absence is unlikely to affect India’s playing XI, as KL Rahul is expected to continue as the wicketkeeper-batsman—a role he successfully played in the match against Bangladesh, where he scored 41 runs and sealed the victory with a winning six.
Despite this, Pant’s illness is a concern, as India does not have a third wicketkeeper in the squad. His availability will be crucial in case KL Rahul faces any issues before or during the match.
India vs Pakistan ODI Rivalry in Dubai
This will be the first ODI clash between India and Pakistan since the ICC World Cup 2023. Additionally, this is their first ODI meeting at the Dubai International Stadium since the Asia Cup 2018. Notably, in the two previous encounters between these teams in Dubai, India emerged victorious on both occasions.
With the excitement building for this historic showdown, Team India will be hoping for Pant’s swift recovery and a strong performance against their arch-rivals.
