Team India Bowling Coach: Before the tour of Sri Lanka, Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir, the Indian T20 team has won the first two matches and made the series in their name. But the team’s support staff is yet to be decided. It is still not decided who will be the bowling coach of the team. But according to a Cricbuzz report, now the name suggested by Gambhir has come to the fore as India’s bowling coach.
Former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel may be appointed as the Indian cricket team’s bowling coach, according to a Cricbuzz report. Morkel will begin his tenure as the Indian cricket team’s bowling coach from the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, while his official appointment is expected before the home series in September.
Sairaj Bahule is currently on the tour of Sri Lanka with Team India and is acting as the interim bowling coach, but according to reports, it is not certain that he will become the head bowling coach. Most of them are spinners and nothing is clear about them, while Morkel is a fast bowler and if he becomes bowling coach of Indian team then Team India may need a spin coach. However, during the ongoing cricket series in Sri Lanka, the Indian team management and selection committee will evaluate the current coaches of the team and then take a decision on them.
Morne Morkel to be India’s new bowling coach?
If Sairaj Bahule continues in his post, Gautam Gambhir-led Indian coaching staff will have six members. Gambhir will be the head coach of the team, Abhishek Nair and Ryan ten Douchet will be the assistant coaches, Morkel will be the fast bowling coach, T Dileep will be the fielding coach and Bahulle will be the spin bowling coach.
The 39-year-old Morkel is a fast bowler. So India will definitely need a spin coach. According to reports, Morkel will take over as the bowling coach in the coming weeks. Morne Morkel took a total of 544 wickets in his international cricket, including 309 wickets in Tests, 188 wickets in ODIs and 47 wickets in T20Is.
